2. What data this extension accesses
When you click the “Extract Place ID” button, the extension temporarily accesses the following on the current active tab:
The URL of the active tab — to verify you are on a Google Maps page
The page content (DOM, scripts, and metadata) of that tab — to locate the Google Place ID
This access is:
Initiated only by you, when you click the Extract button
Limited to the active tab only
Processed entirely within your browser — nothing is sent to any server
3. What data we do NOT collect
No personal data (name, email, IP address, location)
No browsing history or page visit records
No search queries or Google Maps activity
No Place IDs or review links you extract
No usage analytics or crash reports
No cookies, fingerprinting, or tracking of any kind
4. Data storage
This extension does not use local storage, session storage, cookies, or any form of persistent data storage. When you close the extension popup, nothing is retained.
5. Third-party services
This extension does not integrate with or transmit data to any third-party service. The Google review link it generates (search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=…) is constructed locally in your browser. When you choose to open or share that link, your browser’s normal request to Google’s servers applies — governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy.
6. Permissions used
The extension requests the minimum permissions needed to function:
activeTab — allows reading the URL and content of the tab you are currently viewing, on-demand only
scripting — allows running a content script on Google Maps pages to scan for the Place ID when you click Extract
Neither permission allows background activity, access to other tabs, or any persistent access to your browser.
7. Children’s privacy
This extension is a developer and business tool not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how this extension handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. As the extension currently collects no data, changes are unlikely.
