How to Create a Custom WooCommerce Thank You Page for Each Product (3 Plugins Compared)

Husen Memon

October 9, 2026

Every WooCommerce order lands on the same generic order-received screen by default, whether someone just bought a $12 ebook or a $400 piece of equipment that needs setup instructions. Three plugins let you break out of that: Thank You Page for WooCommerce, NextMove Lite, and Thanko Thank You Page Customizer. Short version: if you need rules based on product, category, payment method, or shipping method, use Thank You Page for WooCommerce. If you want ready-made drag-and-drop blocks for Elementor or Divi, use NextMove Lite. If the real goal is handing out a coupon after checkout, use Thanko.

If you’re comfortable editing template files, you can also do this with zero plugins using the woocommerce_thankyou action hook and a product ID check in functions.php. That’s the developer route. This post is for stores that would rather configure a settings screen than touch code, which is most of them.

Why the default WooCommerce thank you page isn’t enough

The order-received page is the last screen a customer sees before they leave your site, and WooCommerce treats it as an afterthought: order number, a short confirmation line, and whatever payment details got echoed back. For a digital download, that page should probably contain a download link or an account-setup video. For a service booking, it should set expectations about what happens next. For a physical product sold on its own landing page, it’s prime real estate for a related-product upsell or a loyalty coupon.

Searches for “WooCommerce custom thank you page per product” mostly turn up single-plugin vendor tutorials (StoreApps, Plugin Republic, Woostify each have one) rather than an independent comparison, and there’s no WPBeginner- or Kinsta-style roundup of this specific need. That’s the gap this post fills: three real, currently maintained plugins, compared honestly, with what each one actually requires to set up.

Thank You Page for WooCommerce

Thank You Page for WooCommerce (plugin slug wc-thanks-redirect) is built around one idea: a rules table that maps a condition to a destination page or URL. The free version’s rule engine is the deepest of the three here. You can target by individual product, product category, product tag, product variation, payment gateway, shipping method, or user role, and stack a global fallback rule underneath all of them.

  • Price: Free, Pro from $11.99/year (single site)
  • Requires: WordPress 6.2+, PHP 7.4+
  • Last updated: Oct 2, 2026

Setup happens at WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Thank You Page for WooCommerce. You start with a global redirect URL for successful and failed orders, then layer product-, category-, or gateway-specific rules on top; the most specific match wins. To show the order summary on whatever destination page you’ve redirected to, you drop in the [TRFW_ORDER_DETAILS] shortcode yourself.

That last point is also its real limitation: this plugin redirects to a page, it doesn’t build one. You need an existing WordPress page, built with the block editor or your page builder of choice, for each distinct thank you experience you want. If you only need one or two destination pages and a handful of targeting rules, that’s a non-issue. If you want dozens of product-specific pages with minimal manual page-building, the setup overhead adds up faster than with the component-based options below.

NextMove Lite

NextMove Lite takes a different approach: instead of redirecting to a page you build elsewhere, it ships a set of ready-made components, personalized order confirmation, order details, customer details, a location map, free-text blocks, and an HTML editor block, each with its own shortcode. You can either assemble them on NextMove’s own built-in thank you page or paste the shortcodes into Elementor, Divi, or Thrive to build the page there.

  • Price: Free, Pro $59/year
  • Requires: WordPress 5.0+, PHP 7.4+
  • Last updated: Mar 14, 2026

After activating, setup lives under XlPlugins > NextMove in the dashboard, where you flip on “Activate Thank You Page” and start dropping in components. The Lite version includes four rule conditions, order item being the main one relevant to a per-product setup, so you can show a different component arrangement depending on what was actually purchased.

The honest limitation is that four rule conditions is noticeably thinner than Thank You Page for WooCommerce’s free rule engine, and personalized dynamic coupons, one of NextMove’s headline marketing features, is a Pro-only component. If your use case is mostly “show different content blocks per purchase” rather than “redirect to entirely separate pages by payment method or shipping zone,” the trade is reasonable. If you need the broader targeting, you’ll likely outgrow the Lite version faster than the other two options here.

Thanko Thank You Page Customizer

Thanko Thank You Page Customizer, built by VillaTheme, leads with a real drag-and-drop page builder in its free tier, not just a settings form. You can rearrange components (thank-you message, order confirmation, order details, social icons, a Google map, a free text/HTML block) directly in a visual editor, and it’s the only one of the three with meaningful automatic-coupon logic built into the free version: give an existing coupon or have the plugin generate a unique one per order, with limits on how many a single customer can claim per day, week, month, or year.

  • Price: Free, Premium $29 (6-month license) to $49 (12-month license)
  • Requires: WordPress 5.2+, PHP 7.4+
  • Last updated: Oct 8, 2026

Setup starts from a dashboard menu item named Woo Thank you page. On the General tab you switch the plugin on, then follow the Design link to build the page layout with drag-and-drop. The Coupon tab is where you configure existing-vs-unique coupon rules and the per-customer limits, and the Email and WooCommerce Email tabs handle sending or attaching that coupon to order confirmation emails.

The gap shows up in product-level nuance: related products, recently-viewed products, best-sellers, up-sells, cross-sells, and the multi-condition coupon rules (minimum or maximum order total, specific included or excluded products and categories) are all Premium-only. The free version gives you one visually-built thank you page with coupon logic attached, not per-product page variations the way the other two handle it. If coupon-after-purchase is the actual goal, that’s fine. If per-product routing is the goal, this isn’t the right pick on its own.

How to pick

  1. If you need to route customers to different pages based on product, category, payment gateway, shipping method, or variation, and you’re fine building those destination pages yourself: use Thank You Page for WooCommerce.
  2. If you want pre-built blocks (order summary, map, customer details) you can drop straight into Elementor, Divi, or Thrive without starting from a blank page: use NextMove Lite.
  3. If the real objective is giving every customer a coupon after checkout, with rules on who gets it and how often: use Thanko Thank You Page Customizer.
  4. If your store already has a developer on hand and the need is simple (one or two conditions, no visual builder required), the woocommerce_thankyou hook is a legitimate zero-plugin option worth asking them about first.
  5. If budget isn’t a constraint and you want official support, WooCommerce.com sells its own Custom Thank You Pages extension at $49/year; none of the three plugins above need it, but it exists if you’d rather stay inside the official ecosystem.

FAQ

Will a custom thank you page break my conversion tracking (Google Ads, Facebook Pixel)?

Not if you use one of these plugins correctly. Thank You Page for WooCommerce explicitly supports Google Tag Manager’s dataLayer and Facebook’s Purchase event on its redirect rules, which is the safer route than hardcoding a static thank-you URL that loses the order context your tracking script needs. If you build a redirect by hand instead, test that the order ID and value still reach your tracking snippet before relying on it.

Can I set a different thank you page for a specific product variation, not just the parent product?

Thank You Page for WooCommerce’s free rule engine includes product variations as a targeting condition, so yes, directly. NextMove Lite and Thanko target at the product or category level in their free tiers; neither one’s readme describes variation-specific rules without upgrading.

Do these plugins work with the WooCommerce block-based checkout, not just the classic checkout shortcode?

None of the three plugin listings explicitly confirm compatibility with the newer block checkout one way or the other. The order-received URL structure changed with block checkout in some WooCommerce versions, so test any of these on a staging copy of your actual checkout before trusting it in production.

Will the order details (items, totals, shipping address) still show up on my custom thank you page?

With NextMove Lite and Thanko, yes, automatically, since both ship a dedicated order-details component you place on the page. With Thank You Page for WooCommerce, you need to add the [TRFW_ORDER_DETAILS] shortcode to your destination page yourself; it isn’t inserted for you.

Do I need a page builder like Elementor to use any of these?

No. Thanko and NextMove both include their own visual or component-based editor that works without Elementor, Divi, or any other page builder installed. Thank You Page for WooCommerce is the one exception: since it only redirects, the destination page itself has to be built with whatever editor you’re already using, including the plain WordPress block editor.

If you’d rather have this built directly into your theme with no plugin overhead at all, our WooCommerce development team can wire up conditional thank you logic with the native hooks and keep it out of your plugin list entirely. For broader checkout customization, see our guides on adding pickup time slots to WooCommerce checkout and adding an EU VAT number field at checkout.
